A natural playground for Altura - Tavira /Portugal
Since October 2024, children in Altura, Tavira (Algarve, Portugal), have been able to play and discover life in a newly designed playground. A creative play area that harmoniously combines play and nature has been created.
The playground offers a picturesque hilly landscape with a bird's nest swing, two stainless steel slides, two spring seesaw animals and, as a special highlight, an underground tunnel where the children cannot be seen - perfect for imaginative adventures.
The playground impresses with its use of natural materials. The wooden elements not only create access routes and boundaries, but are also part of the play and exercise facilities. The hilly landscape creates different levels of play that offer both motor challenges and space for creative role play. The asymmetrical and ascending wooden steps create stairs and age-appropriate (movement) paths that also offer plenty of space to sit and rest on different levels.
The playground is framed by lovingly landscaped flowerbeds and olive trees. In addition to their natural beauty, the picturesque planting provides the play area with shade and lowers the perceived ambient temperature.
The fall protection surface of the two hills was also designed with the climatic properties of the material and its sustainability in mind. It is made from the natural material cork, which comes from Portugal. The colors of the fall protection blend harmoniously into the surroundings and underline the natural aesthetics of the playground.
Our partner Pedro Café and his team at Playparc Portugal have not only met the needs of children, but have also lovingly incorporated and enhanced the local environment.
PLAYPARC is delighted to be part of this nature-loving playground project in the Algarve.
