The new “Holsterturm” playground attraction delights young and old alike

The new custom-made playground attraction from PLAYPARC was modeled on the 700-year-old “Holsterturm”, a well-known landmark of the town of Nieheim, with great attention to detail. A stone block look, lookouts, arched gates, castle battlements and other decorations create a high medieval playground world that makes children's eyes light up, inspires adventurous themed play and ensures plenty of movement.

The ground-level Nieheim cheese shop, where the plump cheese tester “Mausi” lives, picks up on another theme with a local connection, which also inspires children's imaginations. Whether merchant, damsel, knight, queen, prince, dragon, witch, orc or other characters - there are no limits to children's role-play ideas.  Children want to go up high and preferably come down again with a swing. The path to the top of the tower leads over various levels and ends in a safe balcony with a great view of its big brother, the Holster Tower and its historic surroundings.  Children love being able to see life and “the big ones” from above.

After the challenging climb upwards, a rapid slide down one of the two stainless steel tube slides for different age groups offers maximum fun on a safe way back down. The LUUPZ long-bow carousel for children aged 5 and over is also a fun and fast-paced ride in the truest sense of the word.

The press reported on the new playground with these positive words: “Holsterturm zum Spielen: die Krönung aller Spielplatz-Pläne in Nieheim” (Neue Westfälische). We are very grateful for this public praise and are delighted that PLAYPARC has once again been able to fulfill the collective playground wishes of children, citizens, customers and planners.

Only one thing is still missing: in spring 2025, the playground will be extended with a barrier-free EPDM SURFACE and the “Tivat” inclusion carousel. People in wheelchairs will then also be able to ride on the carousel, experience physical forces and have fun together.

Editor's note: Even though the newspaper writes of a coronation, unfortunately there was no “royal weather” for the opening. It was raining cats and dogs. We would like to thank the children, parents, officials and photographer M. Groppe, who attended the photo shoot despite the adverse conditions and made the best of it.
